A couple of sci-fi forces have come together for extra-terrestrial film events. Super 8 joins the summer movie line-up on Friday, June 10. The film is written and directed by J.J. Abrams, the brains behind TV’s Lost and the re-boot of the Star Trek franchise, and is produced by Steven Spielberg. That old and new school pairing informs Super 8’s look and feel, which references different eras of movie making.

To hear more about the film, host Alison Cuddy was joined by Hank Sartin, a senior editor at TimeOut Chicago.

Super 8 opens on Friday, June 10, at theaters and IMAX.

Sartin and Cuddy also reviewed The Trip which opens June 17 at Landmark’s Century Cinema in Chicago, and Renaissance Cinema in Highland Park.
