President Obama declared January “National Mentoring Month” during his State of the Union address, and underscored the significant role mentors can play in the lives of troubled youth. Locally, mentoring is one of the services the Link and Option Center provides to young people in south suburban Cook County. Eight Forty-Eight intern Erica Hunter recently headed out to Markham, Illinois, to pay them a visit and learn more about what they do.
