Drivers beware! Tomorrow, there may be a few less parking spaces available for your vehicle. The participants in Parking Day are occupying metered street spots and turning them into mini-parks…more green space. The project began in 2004 as a single installation in San Francisco, but it’s become a worldwide event. And it’s taken on special significance in Chicago, home of the contested parking meter. Architect Matt Nardella of Moss Design explains what’s planned for the day.

Music Button: Idan K & the Movement of Rhythm, “Like a Tree”, from the CD Om 15, (Om records)

Matt Nardella will set up a park in front of Southport Grocery, 3522 N. Southport Friday, September 18 beginning at 9 a.m.
