Part 2: Michael Sidney Fosberg on living 'Incognito'
Michael Sidney Fosberg grew up in a white working-class family in Waukegan. But about 20 years ago he learned that his biological father is black. Monday, Eight Forty-Eight featured a conversation with Fosberg about the discovery of and subsequent reunion with his father. Tuesday, the conversation continued. Fosberg has recounted this entire experience in his new memoir – Incognito: An American Odyssey of Race and Self-Discovery. In the second part of his interview with WBEZ’s Steve Edwards Fosberg revealed that his white mother and black father attempted to raise a family in the 1950s.
