All those boarded up homes left behind by the mortgage mess have now inspired something new-art. When a husband-and-wife team of photographers moved here from Germany in early 2008, they didn’t even really know the word “foreclosure.” But they learned quickly and became fascinated by the wreckage of the global meltdown. They took pictures of the interiors of foreclosed homes all over the city. Some are starkly empty. But in others, there are hints of the prior occupants – a creepy Halloween mask draped over an old mattress, a forlorn TV set. Those images are now on display at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. WBEZ reporter Ashley Gross met up with the photographers Beate Geissler and Oliver Sann earlier this week. Sann says they were drawn to the mysteries locked inside each home.
