Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner Dr. Janet Rowley
Earlier this week, Janet Rowley was among 16 Americans who accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her scientific work on recurring chromosomal abnormalities proved cancer is a genetic disease, and paved the way to new treatments and preventions. But she might not consider her greatest achievement, after having raised four children. The 84-year-old runs a lab that studies connections between genetic changes and cancer.
