For most Chicagoans, summer means shaking off the winter blues and letting loose. For a sub-set of Chicagoans it’s also a time to get away from work, from responsibilities or from your kids. It’s summer camp season and with it comes packing, traveling and the inevitable letters from the little ones. Local author Diane Falanga is a mother of two who collected real examples in a book called P. S I Hate it Here: Kids’ Letters from Camp. Eight Forty-Eight’s Kristin Moo recently talked to Falanga, who says her own family’s experience inspired the book.
