While his title suggests a focus on planes, trains, and automobiles, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood is also reported to be good at working the gears of Washington's complicated political machinery. In a recent Chicago Tribune profile, Emanuel described his friend LaHood as Obama's envoy to congressional Republicans. Yesterday's press conference was to announce funding for the 2,000th transportation project under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Secretary LaHood joins us to talk a little more about his priorities and his role in the Obama administration.
