Legendary broadcaster Dick Buckley died yesterday at the age of 85. Buckley’s career in radio began more than six decades ago, and he brought his encyclopedic knowledge of jazz right here to WBEZ in the late ’70s. In 2004, WBEZ’s Steve Edwards did an extended interview with Dick, and in this excerpt, he talks about how his taste in Jazz was formed when he first opened a copy of Downbeat Magazine
