Remembering John Stroger

The late John Stroger arrived in Chicago in 1953 and methodically worked his way up to become one of the county's major power brokers. He became the first African-American president of the Cook County Board in 1994 and held that post until he suffered a stroke in 2006.

He died on January 18 at the age of 78.

For Chicago Public Radio, Sonari Glinton produced this remembrance.
