South suburban government officials and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency are being pressured to explain how water containing cancer-causing chemicals was supplied to the Village of Crestwood. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn called for an investigation yesterday after the story broke over the weekend in the Chicago Tribune. The report stated that for more than two decades, and without notifying its residents, the village has been drawing water from a polluted well. Chicago Tribune reporter Michael Hawthorne broke the story and he explains his findings.
