With many schools kicking off in August, struggling retailers hope they’ll get a little boost when parents buy pencils and notebooks, clothes, and maybe even a computer. But a survey released last week suggests that parents are planning to spend much less money on back-to-school items. Eight Forty-Eight’s business contributor David Greising thinks they’ll be keeping an eye out for sales and coupons.
