Yesterday, Cook County commissioners voted to go over Board President Todd Stroger’s head and cut the county’s sales tax by half a percentage point. The debate over the sales tax has been going on for almost two years now. And yesterday’s vote follows four attempts by commissioners to reduce the tax just this year.
