Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson is the first black woman to receive a doctorate from MIT and that degree gave her access to physics laboratories around the country and abroad. Most recently, she was invited to serve on President Obama’s council of advisors on science and technology. And this week, Dr. Jackson is here in town to speak on behalf of the History Maker’s new ScienceMakers initiative for youth. She says her return to the land of the Fermi National Accelerator Lab in Batavia is a homecoming of sorts.
