The Case for Longer School Days

Today some states are on deadline. They're trying to get a slice of a federal pie aimed at improving education. President Obama's "Race to the Top Program" makes billions in grant money available to states that adopt certain school reforms. Among them is a change that might make some students unhappy – a longer school day. Catalyst's most recent edition of In Depth Magazine reports on that push.
