Former graffiti artist, journalist and now grass roots organizer Billy “Upski” Wimsatt started developing his political chops when he was just a kid. He’ll be in town this weekend for a day-long celebration of hip hop culture. The event is also meant to spark further youth involvement in politics and volunteerism. Wimsatt will present a report titled “Movement-Building in the Age of Obama - An Evening of Stories, Strategies and Straight Talk.” He tells us more about what he sees as the future of youth activism.

Check out Wimsatt this Sunday when he’ll give his State of Society Report titled: “Movement-Building in the Age of Obama - An Evening of Stories, Strategies and Straight Talk.” He’ll present it at The Winter Block Party for Chicago’s Hip Hop Arts which takes place at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. This event is a Chicago Public Radio presentation.
