The deadline for a state budget came and went this Friday with no resolution to Illinois’ fiscal troubles. The state Senate passed a proposed budget but the House couldn’t reach an agreement. So far legislators in the House have been unwilling to raise taxes or make severe cuts to close Illinois’ multi-billion dollar budget deficit. To learn more about what happened and what it means moving forward we turn to Illinois Public Radio statehouse bureau chief Sean Crawford.
