Now, if there’s one classical element that most shapes the essential character of the Chicago region, it’s probably water. A couple years ago, Chicago architects Sarah Dunn and Martin Felsen came up with an idea to protect the city’s water supply. They’re the architects behind the design firm UrbanLab, and their project, Growing Water, won the History Channel’s City of the Future Challenge in 2007. WBEZ’s Steve Edwards met up with them at Oak Street Beach shortly thereafter. Sarah and Martin explained that their vision all started with an idea to keep Chicago’s used water.
