If movies are your thing, there are plenty of scary options for Halloween. Even scarier? Most of them are sequels: Paranormal Activity 2, Saw 3D or Scream 4 - take your pick.

Or not! Why not check out a few below-the-radar scary selections that might be a little more up your fright alley.

We turned to our regular fim guru, Christy LeMaster of The Nightingale Theatre.

Christy's Picks:

Demon Lover Diary: Screens tonight at 7 at the Block Museum on the Northwestern Campus in Evanston.

The House of the Devil: Screens tonight at 8 at Chicago Filmmakers in the Andersonville neighborhood.

The Fall of the House of Usher: Screens at midnight on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Facets in Chicago.
Cursed Bird Ensemble will provide a live score for this silent film.
