What's Happening in the Middle: Shifts in Party Politics

Republican leadership unveiled its Pledge to America late last week. This latest move by the GOP comes at a moment when the party would seem to have the upper hand, election wise.

According to some polls, the Republicans are leading among voters. And Gallup puts President Obama's job approval rating in the mid-40s. Meanwhile, Democratic candidates are scrambling to re-brand themselves independents and "moderates." Broad strokes and slanderous ads are par for the course during election season. But are we headed for a tsunami of a political upset? To help us figure that out we're joined by Loyola University Chicago political scientist Alan Gitelson.
