Chris Strachwitz, the founder of Arhoolie Records, is a man possessed —  by music, by recordings, by radio, by recording the vernacular music of America, his adopted home after his family left German in 1947 in the wake of WWII. Chris Strachwitz is a keeper of culture. A cantankerous keeper. He has been awarded the most prestigious highest honor in music and culture in the US — The Grammy, The National Medal of Honor, the … and that doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Featuring Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt with music by Maddox Brothers and Rose, Kronos Quartet, Lightning Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Hackberry Ramblers,  Country Joe and the Fish, Clifton Chenier and more.
