On Wednesday, the City Council passed an ordinance that eliminates the public panels formerly taking a central role in comissioning Chicago’s public art projects. City officials have said that the new process will allow for more input from the community than before.

We first hear from Paul Klein, who organized a rally of local artists to protest the ordinance this past Monday. He says that while the new process may appear more open, citizens’ power is gone.

Then, we hear from the Department of Cultural Affairs’ Greg Knight who says the new ordinance makes the selection process less cumbersome.
