Lyric Opera of Chicago Dramaturge Roger Pines brings us the story behind Francis Poulenc's acclaimed 20th Century opera Dialogues of the Carmelites. It's based on the real life execution of a group of Catholic nuns during the French Revolution. The opera is enjoying it's first-ever series of performances at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Originally broadcast February 16, 2007, on Eight Forty-Eight.
Then, Jean de St. Aubin then shares her respect for opera as its own medium and what it loses in translation to film.
