Stories of survival under South Africa’s brutal apartheid regime come to life at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre for the next week. Amajuba: Like Doves We Rise, is the creation of white South African playwright Yael Farber. Seven years ago…she brought together five South Africans to recount their struggles as children and adolescents living under minority white rule. Yael Farber sat down with Chicago Public Radio’s Tony Sarabia, the host of the Friday night music show “Radio M” to talk about the role of music in the play.
