Hello! Fellow: Ross Wimer

A design partner at legendary architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, Ross is currently drawing preliminary concept sketches for an Olympic Village in Chicago. SOM is coordinating design efforts as Chicago bids for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Ross Wimer’s experience ranges from city planning—from the 93 Hectare Marina Bay Masterplan in Singapore to the 5000-square foot Skyscraper Museum in New York City. His designs have won numerous awards, including local and national AIA awards and PA awards. They’ve also been widely published as well as exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Ross is a graduate of Yale and Harvard Universities. He joined Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in 1996, after eight years working in New York and abroad. He’s now based in SOM’s Chicago office.
