Hesitant to increase wages, some employers add perks instead

Unemployment may be at its lowest level in seven years, but wages for workers have not been increasing.

It appears that a number of companies are hesitant to increase wages, but are adding other benefits, such as signing bonuses, more paid time off or gym memberships.

Derek Thompson, senior editor at The Atlantic, joins Here & Now’s Peter O’Dowd to discuss why the trend.
