A program in Prince George’s County, one of the lowest-scoring districts in Maryland, is using art, music and dance to teach subjects like math, science and reading, with the idea that the arts can help engage students and boost achievement.
The approach is called arts integration, and as Matthew Schwartz of Here & Now contributor WAMU reports, it started as a pilot program last year and will now be in the county’s 211 schools within the next five years.
