The south Los Angeles suburb of Compton is hoping to add jobs. The largely Latino and African-American city gave us NWA and Kendrick Lamar, but its recovery from the recession has been slower than the rest of Southern California.
But Compton’s young Mayor Aja Brown (pronounced “Asia”) says her city is turning around and points to Brooklyn, New York, as a model of a how a once-struggling community can find economic growth. As Brian Watt from KPCC reports, one source of that growth might be in e-commerce.
