Second City's 24 hour improv and music marathon

Previous Next

Some of the most adventurous players in Chicago’s music and improv scenes will once again join forces for a tuneful and very funny 24-hour benefit for the families in need helped by Onward Neighborhood House.

The Second City That Never Sleeps: 24 Hour celebrates its 13th year starting Tuesday at 6 p.m. and running through Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Second City e.t.c. Theatre, 1608 N. Wells. Among this year’s participants: Kim Deal, J.C. Brooks & the Uptown Sound, Robbie Fulks, Jeff Tweedy, Steve Albini, Fred Armisen, and Natasha Lyonne.

Tickets are $20 at the door throughout the event, which also will stream live here (and accept donations via PayPal) for those who can’t make it in person—though this is a party best experienced live, and the event also will include a number of special items and experiences up for auction.

The good-will partnership will continue after the holidays with the Our Living Room Show in the UP Comedy Club on Monday, January 5. That allstar evening features sketch comedy and improv from Saturday Night Live cast members and Second City vets including Aidy Bryant, Mike O’Brien, and Tim Robinson, as well as an intimate performance by Wilco’s Tweedy. Tickets are on sale now via the UP Comedy Club box office (312-662-4562) or http://upcomedyclub.com/show.cfm?id=358419&cart, with prices ranging from $75 general admission to $150 front row.*
