My friend and “Sound Opinions” colleague over at the Tribune has been the first out of the gate to report Lollapalooza’s headliners every year since it came to Chicago as a reinvented “destination festival”—one with a long-term, tax- and competition-free deal for Grant Park through 2018 negotiated in part by Mayor Daley’s nephew, Mark Vanecko, and with ties that are even cozier to mayoral frontrunner Rahm Emanuel—and he has done it again for 2011.

According to Kot, three of the six headliners are misogynist, homophobic rapper Eminem, modern-rock radio panderers the Foo Fighters, and Queen wannabes Muse.

For anyone who cares. Meanwhile, this reporter still is waiting for the Emanuel campaign to respond to questions about the $141,000 in donations the candidate accepted from employees at Lollapalooza co-owners William Morris Endeavor, the contributions he took from the top two executives at Ticketmaster/Live Nation, and his positions in the face of such ties on independent music in Chicago.
