Other people’s lives. Other people’s homes. For Oak Park River Forest high school’s Starfish Project, students went out and talked to people about their homes… their teachers, their parents, their friends… even each other. The students then perform a monologue based on those encounters. Two students, Alex Barcia and Daniel Myers, found out they had an unexpected bond. Each had a mother who had died. Each wrote and performed a monologue based on what the other went through when their mother died. The two join Minor Interruption host Becky Vevea to talk about the project, their lives, and we hear their performances. We also hear from Starfish Project creator Avi Lessing. We also hear from a young man who almost lost everything in his life, including the people he thought were his friends, and even his home for a while. Isaac Strain is now in college, and he talks about his often journey.
