Morning Shift visits one of the nation’s oldest zoos, just off of Fullerton Avenue and Clark Street. Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo opened in 1868 with just a pair of donated swans. Now it’s home to more than hundreds of animals. In this hour-long special broadcast, Morning Shift talks to Megan Ross, executive vice president of Lincoln Park Zoo, Bridget Coughlin, CEO of Shedd Aquarium, and Dave Bernier, general curator of animal care at Lincoln Park Zoo. They discuss the mission of zoos and aquaria and what changes they need to make for a lasting future. They also take questions from kids and adults.
