Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner Signs Two Bills Aimed at Reducing Gun Violence. One of the measures adds Illinois to the list of state that  have enacted so-called red flag laws. The law allows firearms to be taken away temporarily if a judge rules that the owner poses a danger to themselves and or others.


Under Illinois’ version - a judge must hold a hearing within a week of the filing to review
evidence and determine whether to issue an order. If the restraining order is granted, the person must remain away from guns for up to six months.  WTTW Chicago Tonight political reporter Amanda Vinicky provides more detail on this and the other gun related bill the governor signed into law.
