This year marks the 50th year The Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law has been fighting poverty.

An important part of that fight is highlighting- and challenging- the policies that create and grow the number of people living with less access to resources.

Nikole Hannah-Jones’ reporting targets these policies, especially inequity in housing and education. Listeners may know Hannah-Jones from her 2015 This American Life story “The Problem We All Live With” about desegregation in schools.

Hannah-Jones joins Morning Shift before her session at The Shriver Center’s Future of Justice Summit, where she talks about the role of journalism in advancing policy.
