A High School Dropout Tells Her Story

A WBEZ and Better Government Association investigation published earlier this week revealed how thousands of dropouts were never factored into Chicago’s rising graduation rates. The practice of mislabeling dropouts as leaving the district is widespread. When a student mislabeled, no one knows to follow up to re-enroll them. Joining us to talk about how and why students leave high school is Maria Degillo, a youth organizer with the student-led policy group VOYCE. (Flickr/Jeremy Jenum)
