Right now in Illinois there are about 80 people serving life without parole sentences for crimes committed while they were juveniles. And those sentences were mandatory. But recent rulings by the U.S. and Illinois Supreme Courts have changed all that. Here in Illinois those 80 people are now entitled to new sentencing hearings. One of the first hearings – and the first here in Cook County – begins Monday. Adolfo Davis is 38 and has been locked up since 2 months past his 14th birthday.
