A recent WBEZ investigation found that one of the longest-serving aldermen on City Council has used her City Hall clout to get relatives on the city payroll.

As head of the City Council’s Budget Committee, and through years of being a loyal ally to the last two mayors, personnel records show that Ald. Carrie Austin snagged government positions for her children and other relatives, and influenced salary raises, costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Morning Shift checks in with WBEZ politics reporter Dan Mihalopolous about his investigation.
