Summertime is vacation time but many U.S. workers can’t or won’t take time off. Some reasons for this include stingy employers, workers’ concern about being viewed as a slacker and the lack of laws that mandate paid time off. According to a 2012 survey by Kelton Research and commissioned by the Radisson Hotel chain, nearly 50 percent of American workers didn’t use half their vacation time the previous year.
