In 2021, the fastest computer in the U.S. will arrive at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Ill. According the University of Chicago’s news office, the Aurora supercomputer, which is being developed in collaboration with manufacturers Intel and Cray, will be able to complete a quintillion operations per second (that’s a one with 18 zeros!).

Argonne National Laboratory says that researchers will use Aurora to learn more about human brains, invent new materials and develop alternate sources of energy.
