As Chicago Moves To Regulate Airbnb, A Look At The Pros and Cons Of Short-Term Rentals
The Emanuel administration is pushing legislation that would tighten restrictions on short-term housing rental companies like Airbnb and VRBO. We look at the pros and cons of the short-term rental market and its impact on Chicago’s neighborhoods, the city's tax base and hosts’ bottom lines and check in with two Airbnb hosts to hear about their experiences and to get their thoughts on the city regulating short-term rentals.
We also hear from 2nd Ward Alderman Brian Hopkins who thinks the mayor’s proposals do not go far enough.
