As TV show becomes more theatrical does film still have the artistic upper hand?

Viewers aren’t just getting a cinematic experience at the theater anymore. TV has moved past the standard sitcom formula and is now a source for great writing, strong performances and high caliber cinematography. Shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Game of Thrones can convert even the casual TV fan. But it’s still not the big screen. Is the “idiot box” still that, and film remains the higher art form?
