Documents uncovered in skirmishes between the sugar and corn sweetener industries have recently shed light on the extent to which the food industry uses lobbyists, public relations firms and academics to shape the perception of and even the supposed science on their products. Earlier this week the New York Times published excerpts from the documents showing attempts to secretly fund and coach so called outside experts to support their products and denigrate their rivals.
