Cleveland police have just agreed to strict federal reforms that limit use of force, following a settlement with the Department of Justice. The agreement comes after the controversial shootings of unarmed African-Americans. Those shootings by police are part of a series of deaths under increasing scrutiny across the nation. Northwestern University’s Block Cinema seeks to take a new lens to the issue Wednesday. It’s hosting a discussion about race and police power called “When You CAN’T Shake It Off.” The discussion uses clips from YouTube and other sources to examine: How does civil resistance operate in an Internet age? One of tonight’s presenters, the Block’s Guest Curator Will Schmenner, details where he plans to take the discussion. (Flickr/Chris Wieland)
