Once again, it’s the final countdown. Gov. Bruce Rauner and lawmakers have until June 30 to come up with a budget—or at least a stopgap. If they can’t do that in the next 10 days, roadside and infrastructure projects will stall. The Illinois Department of Transportation estimates 20,000 jobs will be lost. The sites that will be inactive will cost $2 million a day to just maintain. Chicago Tribune transportation reporter Mary Wisneiwski breaks down the numbers.
