Canada Geese Find Sanctuary in Chicago

This winter in Chicago you may be able to spot the Canada Goose. It’s known for its long black neck with patches on its face and brown body. These specific geese can also be known for giving you a hard time at the beach or park.

However, if you identify them, know that they may be here to stay.

Canada Geese are flocking to Chicago. The geese have figured out they are safe from hunters and are warmer in the city.

Morning Shift sits down with Michael Ward, professor in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to discuss his research on Canada Geese remaining in metro areas.
