In the wake of the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida, there have been a number of safety threats at schools in the greater Chicago area. Many of them end up being nothing more than teenagers blowing off steam or making a bad joke, but the threat of copycat attacks is a real concern, and parents, teachers, administrators and law enforcement are grappling with how to respond, whether to cancel school, and how to project calm during a time when the nation and our schools are on edge.
