Chicago vertical farming company Farmed Here talks new methods

The world’s population continues to grow most rapidly in urban areas. As people move from the countryside and the countryside itself becomes less arable, and cities become more dense, where will we get our fresh fruits and vegetables? One solution is growing things UP instead of OUT-putting greenhouses in tall buildings instead of wide ones. Same yield, smaller footprint. The idea’s called vertical farming, and we’ll talk to the Vice President of Production and Development, Paul Hardej on the suburban Chicago company Farmed Here about their cutting-edge growing operations.
