Chicago-based organization helps homeowners get their heads above water

The American Homeowner Preservation project got a reboot this October. The program is based on crowdfunding from private investors to purchase low-cost, underwater loans and reset the terms to a more affordable rate for the current homeowners. AHP founder Jorge Newbery says the program provides positive returns on a social and financial level. Newberry and Chicago Magazine "Deal Estate" columnist Dennis Rodkin offers details on the project. (Photo: Flickr/i am real estate photographer)
