City’s Finances A Top Issue For Chicago’s Next Mayor
Leading up to the February 26th municipal election here in Chicago, we had a series of conversations on the Morning Shift about some of the biggest issues Chicago’s next mayor will face when a new administration takes office in May. We talked education, crime and policing, population loss, and more.
Ahead of the April 2nd runoff we’re revisiting these issues to get a better idea of what the city’s next mayor will face when she takes office.
In our latest conversation, we dig into the city’s finances with Laurence Msall, president of the Civic Federation. That’s a non-partisan watchdog group focused on budget and finance issues for Chicago and Illinois.
We also check in with Yvette Shields, reporter for Bond Buyer, on what the mayoral candidates Toni Preckwinkle and Lori Lightfoot have said about how they would deal with the pension crisis.
