It’s been almost two months since two tornadoes touched down in Coal City, a community about an hour and a half southwest of Chicago. On Friday, kids returned for their first day of the new school year, and the town experienced the first real “normal day” since the storm hit. Coal City Community Unit School District Number One is made up of just over 2,000 K-12 students. Many are still displaced from their homes.
